After the success of the inaugural event in 2011, the Organisers of the Bahamas Speed Week Revival are delighted to announce that the originally provisional dates of 28th November through 2nd December 2012 have now been confirmed.

On his return from a round of negotiations in Nassau with Sponsors and Partners of the First Speed Week, Event Director David McLaughlin reported a very positive response to the proposal to run the Second Annual Bahamas Speed Week Revival in December 2012. “I was immensely encouraged, not only by the fact that Partners were keen to continue, but with the feedback they gave. It is clear that they have also learned how they can use Speed Week to grow and improve their businesses and that suggests we are on the right track”.
Of those approached, 100% have indicated that they will be with Speed Week 2012 and every one has suggested either an increased package or a desire to sign up for a multi-year deal, sometimes both. One prominent company has seen that they can use a presence in the Paddock Club to incentivise their agents while another plans to create competitions for retail customers during the six month period prior to the event.

Confirmation that the exclusive Lyford Cay Club will once again host the Concours d’Elegance and a Lunch in their Clubhouse has been followed by news from Pictet Bank that they intend to support the Charity Gala Ball once again and ensure that the $42,000 raised at the Auction of Promises will be exceeded – great news for all concerned.

Bahamas Fast Ferries is working on a minimum three year deal and one or two new partners which are Global Brands are in serious discussions.

McLaughlin said “It is a measure of how hard the Speed Week Team worked that so many existing Partners are prepared to put their faith in us again. I have no doubt that the 2012 event will be significantly better. We will focus, of course, on our core group of 1954 -1966 Sports and GT Cars but have the exciting addition of more Karting, a Formula Junior demonstration and a group of Vintage Formula Vees, all of which featured in the original events.

The 2012 Revival will be launched at Race Retro this weekend on Stand 42 in Speed Street. With a maximum entry of sixty cars and great press coverage recently the organisers are confident of meeting their targets. Indeed there are seven Entrants who have already signed up.

All interested parties are invited to come along and discuss how they may become involved in 2012.
RACE RETRO 2012 takes place from 26th to 28th February at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry, CV8 2LZ BAHAMAS SPEED WEEK REVIVAL: Speed Street, Stand 42.
